Guide Pasang managed our pace and health checks so well that all six of us made Kala Patthar. The extra rest day at Dingboche was called early, calmly, and it saved the trek for two of us. Flawless organisation from the Thamel office.

Fly into Lukla's mountain airstrip and follow the Dudh Koshi river through Sherpa villages, pine forest and prayer-flagged suspension bridges to Namche Bazaar. From there the trail climbs past Tengboche's hilltop monastery and above the treeline to the Khumbu glacier — ending at Everest Base Camp itself and the sunrise viewpoint of Kala Patthar, face to face with the highest mountain on Earth.
Namaste! Airport pickup and transfer to your Thamel hotel. Evening trek briefing at our office, gear check, and last-minute rentals two streets away.
A 35-minute mountain flight threads between ridgelines to Lukla's famous airstrip. Boots on, we descend gently along the Dudh Koshi past mani walls and prayer wheels to Phakding.
Cross five suspension bridges — including the high Hillary Bridge — then climb the long forested hill into the Sherpa capital. First glimpse of Everest on a clear afternoon.
Climb high, sleep low: a morning hike to the Everest View Hotel (3,880 m), then back for bakery coffee, the Sherpa Culture Museum, and gear shopping in the market.
A balcony trail with Ama Dablam ahead the whole way, dropping to the river before the switchback climb through rhododendron to Tengboche Monastery. Evening prayers with the monks.
Above the treeline now. Through Pangboche — home of the region's oldest gompa — and into the wide Imja Valley, walled by Lhotse and Island Peak.
Optional ascent of Nangkartshang Ridge (5,083 m) for a horizon of Makalu, Lhotse and Cho Oyu. Afternoon rest, oximeter checks, apple pie.
Past the climbers' memorials at Thukla Pass — a sobering, wind-flagged ridge — then along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu glacier to Lobuche.
The big day. Drop bags at Gorakshep, then follow the glacier trail to Everest Base Camp itself — prayer flags, ice pinnacles, and the groan of the Khumbu Icefall.
Pre-dawn head-torch climb to Kala Patthar for the sunrise you came for: Everest's summit pyramid burning gold. Then a long, happy descent to Pheriche's thicker air.
Retrace through Pangboche and Tengboche — the same trail, transformed by the opposite light. Celebration bakery stop in Namche.
The final leg down the Dudh Koshi, crossing the bridges one last time. Evening dal bhat with the crew and a small farewell ceremony with your guides and porters.
Morning flight back (weather-dependent — we always keep a buffer day). Afternoon free for Thamel souvenirs, massage, or the Boudhanath kora at dusk.
Airport transfer for your onward flight — or extend with Chitwan safari, Pokhara, or a Lumbini pilgrimage. Ask us; extensions are our favourite upsell and your favourite decision.
Prices per person, twin-share · 20% deposit confirms · Balance payable in Kathmandu
We provide free of charge: an 80 L duffel bag, sleeping bag and down jacket for the trek — handed over at your Kathmandu briefing, returned after the trek. Anything missing can be bought or rented in Thamel; your guide will help you shop.
You'll walk 5–7 hours a day on well-made but steep trails, up to 5,644 m. No climbing skills are needed, but 2–3 months of regular cardio (hiking, stairs, running) beforehand makes the difference between surviving the trek and enjoying it. Individuals from 9 to 75 have completed EBC with proper preparation.
Lukla flights are weather-dependent and delays happen. In peak season flights may operate from Ramechhap (Manthali) airport, a 4–5 hour drive from Kathmandu — we cover that transfer at no extra cost. We also recommend keeping 1–2 buffer days before your international flight; we'll help plan them.
Two permits: the Sagarmatha National Park permit and the Khumbu Rural Municipality permit. Both are fully arranged by our Thamel office and included in your package price — you just bring your passport and two photos.
Yes — we require insurance covering high-altitude trekking up to 6,000 m, including emergency helicopter evacuation and medical costs. We'll check your policy at the briefing and keep a copy so our guides can act fast if it's ever needed.
Simple, warm and welcoming — twin rooms with shared bathrooms at higher villages, attached bathrooms in Lukla, Phakding and Namche. Dining rooms serve dal bhat, noodles, pasta and surprisingly good bakeries. Hot showers and Wi-Fi are available for a small fee in most villages.

As a solo female traveller I felt completely looked after — airport pickup, daily oximeter checks, and a guide who noticed I was tired before I said anything. The teahouse picks were consistently the best in each village. Book them.
