Nir Bahadur Jirel

Twenty-seven years on the trail — and everyone who's walked it with him leaves happy.

Nir has been guiding treks across Nepal's Himalayan routes since 1999 — nearly three decades on the trail. Fluent in English and Hindi, with working knowledge of several local dialects, he's the kind of guide who leaves every guest genuinely happy, trip after trip.

Twenty-seven years is long enough to have guided through nearly every kind of trail condition, season, and group personality Nepal's mountains can throw at you. What hasn't changed for Nir is the outcome guests who finish their trek not just safe, but genuinely glad they went with him.

Twenty-seven years and a start date of 1999 put Nir among the most experienced guides on the team, but what guests notice isn't the tenure it's how unshaken he seems by anything the trail throws at him. Sudden weather changes, tired trekkers, last-minute route adjustments Nir handles them with the same calm he's carried since his earliest treks, the kind of steadiness that only comes from decades on the mountain.

Fluent in English and Hindi, with working knowledge of several local dialects, Nir has guided trekkers from all over the world and it shows in how naturally he connects with people from different backgrounds. As the founding presence behind the team, he's also the one newer guides look to for how it's done: not through lectures, but by example, trek after trek.
